The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Colonel Arthur F. Dennis (AFSN: FV-1911974), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 Pilot over Viet Tri, North Vietnam on 15 January 1967. On that date, Colonel Dennis was element leader in a flight of four F-105’s on a strike mission against the vital railroad yards at Viet Tri, North Vietnam. In spite of intense anti-aircraft artillery, hostile fighters in the area, poor visibility and a surface-to-air missile launched at the flight during the bomb run, Colonel Dennis delivered his ordnance directly on the target resulting in serious damage to this important hostile transportation facility. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Dennis reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
