The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Owen Myrddin Davies (AFSN: FR-25046), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an Aircraft Commander of an F-4C tactical jet fighter near Thai Nguyen, North Vietnam, on 5 July 1967. On that date, Major Davies led a flight of seven F-4C aircraft on a mission against the heavily defended barracks and storage area near Thai Nguyen. In spite of intense hostile anti-aircraft fire directed at his flight, he completed his mission in a highly successful manner. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Davies reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
