The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat “V” to Major Owen Myrddin Davies (AFSN: FR-25046), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as Aircraft Commander of an F-4C jet fighter near Hanoi, North Vietnam, on 20 April 1967. On that date, Major Davies flew the number two position of a flight of four which attacked a hostile train in a highly defended area. The attack resulted in the total destruction of the hostile train with no damage to his aircraft. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Major Davies reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Owen Myrddin Davies (AFSN: FR-25046), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an Aircraft Commander of an F-4C tactical jet fighter near Dong Hoi, North Vietnam on the night of 20 February 1967 while a member of the 390th Tactical Fighter Squadron at DaNang Air Base, Republic of Vietnam. On that date, while piloting an F-4C engaged in an extremely hazardous armed reconnaissance mission, Major Davies successfully attacked a heavily defended supply storage area and truck park. In spite of intense anti-aircraft fire directed at his flight, he completed his mission in a highly successful manner. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Davies reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Major Owen Myrddin Davies (AFSN: FR-25046), United States Air Force, for gallantry while participating in aerial flight as an Aircraft Commander of an F-4C tactical jet aircraft of the 390th Tactical Fighter Squadron, DaNang Air Base, Vietnam, in action near Kep Airfield, Democratic Republic of Vietnam, on 14 June 1967. On that date, Major Davies was Mission Commander of a strike executed against the vital and heavily defended Vu Chua railroad yards. Major Davies led his force directly to the target and delivered his ordnance through intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire. Undaunted by the numerous hostile threats to his personal safety, Major Davies was able to inflict heavy damage on the hostile site. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Major Davies has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

In spite of intense hostile anti-aircraft fire directed at his flight, he completed his mission in a highly successful manner. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Davies reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
