The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Owen Myrddin Davies (AFSN: FR-25046), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an Aircraft Commander of an F-4C tactical jet fighter near Dong Hoi, North Vietnam on the night of 20 February 1967 while a member of the 390th Tactical Fighter Squadron at DaNang Air Base, Republic of Vietnam. On that date, while piloting an F-4C engaged in an extremely hazardous armed reconnaissance mission, Major Davies successfully attacked a heavily defended supply storage area and truck park. In spite of intense anti-aircraft fire directed at his flight, he completed his mission in a highly successful manner. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Davies reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
