    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Major General John Michael Davey, United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Davey distinguished himself as Commander, 832d Air Division, Luke Air Force Base, Arizona; Commander, 26th Air Division, March Air Force Base, California; and as Commander, 25th Air Division, McChord Air Force Base, Washington, from 14 January 1985 to 14 August 1989. In these important positions, General Davey brought great managerial skills, integrity, and resourcefulness. His dynamic leadership and insightful analysis of mission requirements increased the defense capability of the forces under his command despite the rigors of major air defense realignment. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Davey reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
