The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Christopher P. Dascalos (AFSN: FR-3081680), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Combat Aircrew Member in Southeast Asia on 29 April 1967. On that date, while under intense and accurate fire from unfriendly forces, Captain Dascalos demonstrated courage, undaunted determination, and superior skill in pressing home devastating air attacks against hostile positions. Persevering in the face of danger and death, he relentlessly and effectively aided in neutralizing the hostile forces. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Dascalos reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Headquarters, 7th Air Force, Special Order G-10 (January 2, 1968)The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain Christopher P. Dascalos (AFSN: FR-3081680), United States Air Force, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force while serving with the 13th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Korat Royal Thai Air Base, Thailand, in action over North Vietnam on 2 August 1967. On that date, Captain Dascalos was an F-105 Thunderchief Electronics Warfare Officer in a flight of four aircraft charged with suppressing hostile surface-to-air missile attacks against major friendly air strike forces. With complete disregard of personal safety, intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire and the threat of multiple surface-to-air missile attacks, Captain Dascalos’ flight attacked and destroyed or severely damaged three missile sites. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Captain Dascalos has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Dascalos (AFSN: FR-3081680), United States Air Force, for meritorious service as Chief, Wing Plans Division, 553d Reconnaissance Wing, Korat Royal Thai Air Base, Thailand, while engaged in ground operations against an opposing armed force from 3 June 1969 to 25 May 1970. During this period, Major Dascalos demonstrated superb ability in formulating and presenting war plans, weapons system employment plans and organizational formulations and changes in force structure. He aided immeasurably in imparting to all visiting senior and general officers the specific plans and goals of the Wing and how those plans fitted into the overall goals of our Southeast Asia Air Forces. The exemplary leadership, personal endeavor, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Dascalos in this responsible position reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
