The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain Christopher P. Dascalos (AFSN: FR-3081680), United States Air Force, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force while serving with the 13th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Korat Royal Thai Air Base, Thailand, in action over North Vietnam on 2 August 1967. On that date, Captain Dascalos was an F-105 Thunderchief Electronics Warfare Officer in a flight of four aircraft charged with suppressing hostile surface-to-air missile attacks against major friendly air strike forces. With complete disregard of personal safety, intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire and the threat of multiple surface-to-air missile attacks, Captain Dascalos’ flight attacked and destroyed or severely damaged three missile sites. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Captain Dascalos has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
