The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit to Colonel Lawrence Elmer Bustle, Jr. (AFSN: FR-29960), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as the Assistant Deputy Director for Operational Support and the Deputy Director for Operational Support, Directorate of Operations, Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Operations, Headquarters United States Air Force, Washington, District of Columbia, from 3 September 1982 to 30 June 1984. During this period, the exemplary ability, diligence, and devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Bustle resulted in significant contributions to the enhancement of Air Force combat readiness, sustainability and survivability worldwide. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Colonel Bustle culminate a distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
