Buethe, Jr., United States Air Force, was awarded the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, culminating as Director, Medical Programs and Resources, Office of the Surgeon General, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C., from 1991 to 1994.
