Brown, United States Air Force, was awarded the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, culminating as Commander of Allied Air Forces Southern Europe, and as Deputy Commander in Chief, U.S. Air Forces in Europe for the Southern Area, with headquarters in Naples, Italy, from 1982 to 1984.
