    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Lester P. Brown, Jr., United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4E Aircraft Commander over Southeast Asia on 30 January 1970. On that date, Captain Brown flew a night escort mission that protected and enabled accomplishment of a night gunship’s mission. Captain Brown made multiple passes against numerous active hostile anti-aircraft gun positions, silencing two of them. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Brown reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
