The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Major Clement Frazier Brown, Jr., United States Air Force, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as Pilot of a T-6 Mosquito Reconnaissance aircraft attached to the EIGHTH Army in Korea, in 1950. Major Brown distinguished himself by voluntarily acting as an observer in an unarmed reconnaissance aircraft and conducted an extensive appraisal of the enemy forces at low altitude within range of automatic weapons and small arms fire. He displayed outstanding additional courage and determination by his decision to land within enemy-held territory in order to personally interrogate a Korean National. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major Brown, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
