The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Colonel Jones Edward Bolt (ASN: 0-460075), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an Aircraft Commander of an F-4 tactical jet fighter over North Vietnam on 30 April 1967. On that date, while piloting as FAC engaged in an extremely hazardous rescue support mission for a downed F-105 pilot, Colonel Bolt successfully disbursed hostile aircraft from the rescue site. In spite of anti-aircraft fire directed at his flight and his prolonged presence in the high treat area, he completed his mission in a highly successful manner. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Bolt reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
