The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Marvin H. Anderson, United States Army, for gallantry in action on 12 June 1944, in Burma. During an attack by U.S. forces upon strong enemy positions, Private Anderson, with two comrades, helped five wounded men escape from an enemy-surrounded position. His personal courage and unselfishness saved his wounded comrades from certain death and reflect great credit upon the Armed Forces of the United States.
