During World War II, William Anderson became a U.S. Army Air Forces ACE, credited with shooting down SEVEN enemy aircraft in aerial combat. He made front page headlines in his hometown newspaper The Chicago Tribune on June 20, 1944 when he shot down a German V-1 rocket which he named the “Buzz Bomb”. He was the first to ever to do so. He holds the distinction of being Sweden’s ONLY air ACE in history.
