Alvan Kincaid was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Army Infantry Reserve in 1917, and served in France as an aerial observer during World War II. In 1920 he received his Regular commission in the Army Air Service. After serving in the Army Air Forces in World War II, he transferred to the U.S. Air Force when it became a separate branch of service in 1947. He retired in 1953 as a U.S. Air Force Major General.
