The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Jack Warren Hunt (AFSN: FR-45828), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 Thunderchief Pilot in Southeast Asia on 19 December 1966. On that date, Major Hunt was a member of the lead flak suppression flight in a strike against a highly significant and heavily defended petroleum storage complex. Despite heavy ground fire and surface-to-air missile launches, he successfully neutralized a large portion of the target defenses with a devastating attack. His attack contributed significantly to the successful strike of this vital complex without the loss of a single strike aircraft. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Major Hunt reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
