Fischer, United States Air Force, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as an F-4 Pilot with the 12th Tactical Fighter Wing, Cam Ranh Bay Air Base, South Vietnam, in action over Southeast Asia from 1965 to 1966.
