The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Harold Norman Campbell (AFSN: FR-62546), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States as Vice Commander, Ogden Air Logistics Center, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and as Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics Center, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and as Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics, Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, from 10 October 1984 to 31 October 1987. During this period, General Campbell’s foresight, planning, and leadership abilities markedly improved the entire spectrum of Air Force logistics, both at the wholesale and retail levels, resulting in improvements to logistics systems directly impacting the capabilities and combat readiness of the United States Air Force. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Campbell and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
