(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Air Corps) Calvin Durand Allen, Jr. (ASN: 0-736931), United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action against the enemy as a P-51 Mustang Fighter Pilot of the 5th Fighter Squadron, 52d Fighter Group, FIFTEENTH Air Force, in action against the enemy in aerial combat in the Mediterranean Theater of Action during World War II. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Allen, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
