Richard Phillips was commissioned in the Marine Corps upon graduation from California Polytechnic College in 1961. During his career he held the title “Silver Hawk,” denoting him as the Marine Corp’s longest serving active duty aviator. He retired as a United States Marine Corps Major General in 1993.
