The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Sergeant Jason L. Courson, United States Army, for heroic action in combat operations during an enemy ambush in the Khadea neighborhood of Baghdad, Iraq, from 3 to 6 April 2007 in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Following an enemy attack, Sergeant Courson ignored his own injuries in order to triage, treat and potentially save the life and limb of his teammate. His actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect distinct credit upon himself, the Black Knights, the Multi-National Division-Baghdad and the United States Army.
