Edward Fris completed the Reserve Officer’s Course, Marine Corps Schools, Quantico, in 1943, then successively attended the Naval Training Schools at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Radar Maintenance Course, Camp Murphy, Florida, before being promoted to first lieutenant in June 1944. He retired as a U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant General.
