The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Sergeant Lawrence A. Wojcik, United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement as waist gunner on a B-17 aircraft which shot down three enemy aircraft during his first ten missions over occupied Continental Europe in World War II. Sergeant Wojcik’s great courage and skill, fighting from his gun position, warded off many enemy attacks and materially aided in the success of each of the ten missions. The courage and coolness displayed by Sergeant Wojcik on all these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
