The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Radioman Second Class Lowell Wayne Turner, United States Navy, for heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight during operations against enemy Japanese forces in the Western Pacific Area, from April 19 to August 15, 1945. Participating in twenty anti-shipping and patrol missions during this period, Aviation Radioman Second Class Turner contributed materially to the success of his squadron. His gallant devotion to duty was in keeping with highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
