The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Sergeant Dallas C. Stewart, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C 130E Combat Spear Radio Operator in Southeast Asia on 19 June 1968. On that date Sergeant Stewart flew a Top Secret combat airdrop mission of vital importance to unconventional warfare operations in Southeast Asia. He penetrated active hostile defenses, marginal weather conditions and incompletely charted mountainous areas to deliver the drop load successfully. This mission was indicative of his continued extraordinary achievement throughout his tour in Southeast Asia. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Stewart reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
