The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant Marvin D. Saville, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a CH-3F, Flight Mechanic in a helicopter whose mission was the placement of friendly troops from a forward operating location to a position deep in hostile territory. Despite hostile ground fire directed at his aircraft, Sergeant Saville directed heavy suppressive return fire at the nearby hostile forces assuring completion of his mission. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Saville reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
