The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Glen A. Lintner, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an HH-3E Copilot in Southeast Asia, on 28 January 1969. On that date, in the waning moments of twilight, Captain Lintner voluntarily guided his helicopter into a heavily defended area to rescue two downed Air Force pilots. Skillfully avoiding hostile defenses at treetop level, Captain Lintner quickly located the first airman in high, rugged karet, and after jettisoning all loose equipment, hovered at maximum power to lift him to safety; then, in almost total darkness, located and quickly hoisted the second pilot safely aboard. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Lintner reflect a great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
