The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW-4) Steven E. Kilgore, United States Army, for heroic achievement during aerial flight as an attack helicopter pilot in command during direct combat operations in support of Mind-B and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 06-08. Chief Warrant Officer Four Kilgore distinguished himself by locating and destroying an enemy anti-aircraft ambush. His actions directly contributed to the safe guarding of coalition aircraft and the disruption, determent, and destruction of anti-Iraqi forces. His actions bring great credit upon himself, First Air Cavalry Brigade, Multi-national Division Baghdad, and the United States Army.
