The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain (Air Corps) Frederick R. Jenks, United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flights during July 1943. He was assigned the difficult task of planning and executing navigational requirements of several B-1 7F type combat aircraft. His primary mission was to initiate night investigational combat missions. His unusual ability to input knowledge to others and his utter disregard for personal fatigue resulted in successful operations against the enemy by his squadron, thus rendering aid of inestimable value to the Allied War effort. His professional skill, sound judgment and enthusiasm reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
