    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Chief Warrant Officer Three (CWO-3) Wesley C. Fortenberry, United States Army, for exceptional courage and valor as an AH-64D attack helicopter pilot in command during direct combat with the enemy on 11 April 2004. Chief Warrant Officer Three Fortenberry’s skill, bravery and tenacity, in the face of direct enemy fire, enabled the ground commander to break contact with minimal casualties. Chief Warrant Officer Three Fortenberry’s courage, devotion to duty and selflessness are in keeping with the greatest Army values and traditions and bring great credit upon himself, the First Cavalry Division and the United States Army.
