The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Doit L. Fish (MCSN: 0-25689), United States Marine Corps, for heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight as a pilot attached to Marine Bombing Squadron Six Hundred Eleven in action against enemy Japanese forces in the Philippine Islands area between 8 and 14 May 1945. Undaunted by grave hazards, First Lieutenant Fish boldly penetrated enemy territory to complete twenty daring missions against vital Japanese installations and, striking furiously at his assigned targets, inflicted severe damage upon the enemy, thereby contributing essentially to the success of his squadron during a period of intensive aerial activity. His superb skill as an airman, cool courage and brilliant combat tactics throughout upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
