The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain James L. Farmer, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an EC-47 Navigator in Southeast Asia on 5 July 1970. On this day Captain Farmer flew an extremely hazardous mission through adverse weather conditions and the constant threat of hostile fire for the purpose of collecting intelligence information vital to the success of ground operations. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Farmer reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
