The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant Leroy H. Bradley, United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 12 February 1945, as a gunner on a B-25 aircraft during a mission against a sugar refinery in Italy. Upon the approach to the target, more than fifteen ME-109s intercepted his flight and in repeated attacks heavily damaged his airplane. Displaying great courage and superior professional skill in the running battle, Sergeant Bradley courageously remained at his post and his accurate fire contributed to the probable destruction of two ME-109s before the hostile planes broke off before damaging the other B- 25s. On more than seventy-five combat missions his outstanding proficiency and steadfast devotion to duty have reflected great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
