    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant (Air Corps) Albert S. Bowen, Jr., United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while serving as pilot of an A-2C type aircraft dispatched on light bombardment missions against the enemy in the European Theater of Operations from April to December 1944. During this period Lieutenant Bowen ‘s courage and aggressiveness demonstrated in the face of many obstacles in large measure contributed to the successful operations of his group. By his tireless efforts, proficiency, and determination on numerous and hazardous combat missions Lieutenant Bowen attained an outstanding record. His courage and leadership in the face of enemy fire and his efficiency despite unfavorable weather conditions throughout these numerous missions reflect great credit upon himself and the Army Air Forces.
