The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Warrant Officer Ronald M. Black, United States Army, for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. Warrant Officer Black distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on 26 November 1969, while serving near Tay Ninh Province, Republic of Vietnam. When Warrant Officer Black came under small arms fire, he immediately engaged the enemy from the rear, then called in artillery. Although hostile fire drove him from the area, he returned in order to mark enemy positions. His outstanding flying ability and devotion to duty is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service, and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
