The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Sergeant Martin H. Becker, United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while serving as radio operator/gunner on many high altitude heavy bombardment missions against the enemy over Continental Europe during a period ending 5 November 1944. By expertly operating his radio equipment during long hours of combat and by warding off vicious fighter attacks with his gun, Sergeant Becker made a substantial contribution to the success of these operations. The heroic determination and disregard of personal safety displayed by Sergeant Becker on all these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Military Forces of the United States.
