The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant (Air Corps) Dewey E. Albright, United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement against the enemy on 14 February 1945. While serving as bombardier of a B-26 type aircraft of the 387th Bombardment Group (M), Lieutenant Albright participated in an attack against important communications center and enemy strong points at Xanten, Germany. A burst of antiaircraft fire struck his aircraft just prior to releasing his bombs and Lieutenant Albright was wounded. Despite the pain of his wounds Lieutenant Albright rapidly made his preparations and dropped his bombs with great skill on an important read junction. His skillful perseverance and courage on this occasion, as well as his devotion to duty, reflect high credit upon himself and the Army Air Forces.
