The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Colonel Guy F. Henage, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as C-130B pilot at Kham Duc Airfield, republic of Vietnam, on 9 August 1970. On that date, Colonel Henage flew an extremely hazardous mission through severe weather conditions and the constant threat of hostile ground fire to deliver vitally needed aircraft fuel to this uncontrolled forward operating base. Even though part of the runway was closed and the field was under intermittent rocket attack, Colonel Henage successfully completed this critical mission. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Henage reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
