The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Commander Alfred G. Siebecke, United States Navy, for heroism while participating in aerial flight against the enemy as bombardier navigator of a jet aircraft while attached to Attack Squadron FIFTY-TWO embarked on U.S.S. KITTY HAWK (CVA 63). On 16 April 1972, in the darkness of the early morning, Lieutenant commander Siebecke conducted a single plane all weather strike on a surface-to-air missile site, thereby silencing the site and creating diversion for enemy defenses to allow a massive strike to hit an adjacent target largely unopposed. The mission was executed at night in the face of determined, intense and formidable enemy defenses and surface-to-air missiles. Lieutenant Commander Siebecke displayed undaunted courage, superb airmanship and unwavering devotion to duty which reflected great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Third Gold Star in lieu of a Fourth Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Commander Alfred G. Siebecke, United States Navy, for heroism while participating in aerial flight against the enemy as bombardier navigator of a jet aircraft while attached to Attack Squadron FIFTY-TWO embarked on U.S.S. KITTY HAWK (CVA 63). On 10 May 1972, Lieutenant Commander Siebecke led a highly successful air wing attack against the heavily defended Haiphong Railroad Bridge, North Vietnam. In an exceptional display of airmanship, he unerringly navigated the strike group through a formidable surface-to-air missile environment to the assigned target. Undaunted by a missile explosion in close proximity of his aircraft, he executed a daring bombing attack which resulted in severe damage to the bridge. Lieutenant Commander Siebecke’s aggressive leadership, exemplary courage in the face of formidable enemy opposition reflected credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Fourth Gold Star in lieu of a Fifth Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Commander Alfred G. Siebecke, United States Navy, for heroism while participating in aerial flight against the enemy as bombardier navigator of a jet aircraft while attached to Attack Squadron FIFTY-TWO embarked on U.S.S. KITTY HAWK (CVA 63). On 11 June 1972, Lieutenant Commander Siebecke flew in the lead aircraft of a highly successful thirty-four plane air wing strike against the heavily defended petroleum storage area located near Kep Airfield, North Vietnam. Undaunted by surface-to-air missiles and anti-aircraft artillery fire, Lieutenant Commander Siebecke guided his pilot and the entire strike group with unerring accuracy to the target area and assisted his pilot in executing a devastating attack on the storage area. The resulting heavy damage to the target denied the enemy large quantities of vital petroleum products. Lieutenant Commander Siebecke’s exemplary courage, aggressiveness and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of formidable enemy opposition reflected credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Silver Star in lieu of a Sixth Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Commander Alfred G. Siebecke, United States Navy, for heroism while participating in aerial flight against the enemy as bombardier navigator of a jet aircraft while attached to Attack Squadron FIFTY-TWO embarked on U.S.S. KITTY HAWK (CVA 63). On 23 July 1972, Lieutenant Commander Siebecke lead a most successful coordinated air wing strike against the heavily defended Vien Thien Son Battery Plant located at Hanoi, North Vietnam. The target was of strategic importance to the enemy , supplying more than 50 percent of all batteries produced by the enemy. Undaunted by formidable enemy defenses consisting of numerous surface-to-air missiles installations and heavy concentrations of anti-aircraft artillery, he skillfully executed a devastating bombing attack which completely destroyed the target. His heroic efforts were instrumental in curtailing the enemy’s ability to sustain an offensive in South Vietnam.. The resulting heavy damage to the target denied the enemy large quantities of vital petroleum products. Lieutenant Commander Siebecke’s professional leadership, aggressiveness airmanship and exemplary courage reflected great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Commander Alfred G. Siebecke, United States Navy, for heroism while participating in aerial flight against the enemy as bombardier navigator of a jet aircraft while attached to Attack Squadron FIFTY-TWO embarked on U.S.S. KITTY HAWK (CVA 63). On 1 May 1972, Lieutenant Commander Siebecke flew in the lead aircraft of a division of attack aircraft in a highly successful coordinated air wing strike against a strategic enemy petroleum storage area located near Thanh Hoa, North Vietnam. Undaunted by airborne enemy interceptors and heavy anti-aircraft artillery, he navigated his division with precision to the target area where he assisted his pilot in executing a devastating attack placing all ordnance on target. Over one million gallons of petroleum products were destroyed or rendered useless to the enemy during the course of this battle. Lieutenant Commander Siebecke’s exemplary courage, leadership and devotion to duty which reflects credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in addition to a previously awarded Silver Star in lieu of a Seventh Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Commander Alfred G. Siebecke, United States Navy, for heroism while participating in aerial flight against the enemy as bombardier navigator of a jet aircraft while attached to Attack Squadron FIFTY-TWO embarked on U.S.S. KITTY HAWK (CVA 63). On 16 September 1972, Lieutenant Commander Siebecke lead a thirty-four plane coordinated strike against the Lam La Supply Depot located at Haiphong, North Vietnam. Undaunted by intense enemy anti-aircraft artillery fire and a surface-to-air missile, he flawlessly led the attack against the target causing multiple secondary explosion which resulted in the destruction of supplies, support buildings, roads, and waterways linking the area with lines-of-communication. Lieutenant Commander Siebecke’s outstanding leadership, courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
