The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Fourth Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Fifth Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Waldemar D. Krueger, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an A-1 Tactical Fighter Pilot in Southeast Asia on 30 June 1970. On that date, he was scrambled as On-Scene-Commander on a rescue mission for a downed airman deep in hostile territory. After locating the survivor he deliberately exposed himself at low altitude to pinpoint hostile gun positions. His superior management of the Search and Rescue resources resulted in a successful pickup in minimal time. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Krueger reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
