SYNOPSIS – (Citation Needed): The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Private First Class James M. Eakman, Jr., United States Marine Corps, for heroic achievement in connection with combat operations against the enemy while serving with the FIRST Marine Division, in action in Korea on 4 and 5 September 1952. As a machine gunner, he demonstrated outstanding courage and devotion to duty in the face of heavy enemy artillery and mortar file while under attack by numerically superior enemy forces. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Marine Corps.
