The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit, in the Degree of Officer (Navy Award) to Lieutenant Roy D. Booth, Royal Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States during the invasion of Normandy, France, 6 June 1944. As commander of a flotilla of a mine-sweeper group, he worked tirelessly against the triple hazard of a cross current, intense darkness and adverse weather conditions to sweep and markt he requisite channels.
