The President of the United States of America, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit (Navy Award) to Commodore Per Askim, Royal Norwegian Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from July 1942 to 1944. As Norwegian Naval AttachŽ in Washington, D.C. since July 1942, he has been untiring in his efforts to further prosecution of the war. He established a training camp for Norwegian gunners and effected the arming of Norwegian merchant vessels.
