(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Staff Sergeant Jack Knight, Canadian Army, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as a member of the 1st Special Service Force, attached to the FIFTH Army, in action at Mt. Majo, Italy, on 4 January 1944. Staff Sergeant Knight found a lost wire which had been placed through enemy lines, returned to report is position, then braved enemy artillery and machinegun fire to return through enemy lines to reach litter bearers needed to evacuate wounded soldiers. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the Canadian Army.
