(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: First Lieutenant (Infantry) Charles N. Stoetzer, United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action against the enemy near Corny, France, during World War II. Fully aware that the battalion area had been mined, he volunteered to establish forward observation post locations. He was seriously wounded by a land mine as he returned to his own front lines. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
