Williams, Jr., United States Air Force, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving as an F-4 Phantom Fighter Pilot in the 435th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, in action against the enemy over Southeast Asia and the destruction of one enemy MiG in aerial combat in 1968. His devotion to duty and courage under all conditions serve as an inspiration to his fellow flyers. His actions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
