Charles Williams entered the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aviation cadet in March 1940. After serving in the Army Air Forces in World War II, he left active duty in 1947 to work as a research engineer with Humble Oil and Refining Co., Houston, Texas. Recalled to active duty in 1951, he retired in 1977 as a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General.
