(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: First Lieutenant John L. Welde, United States Air Force, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as an F-100 Fighter Pilot of the 352d Tactical Fighter Squadron, Phan Rang Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, from 1969 to 1970, and with the 353d and 511th Tactical Fighter Squadrons, Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, in 1970, in action against the enemy during 370 combat missions over Southeast Asia. His devotion to duty and courage under all conditions serve as an inspiration to his fellow flyers. His actions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
