(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Colonel Herman O. Thomson, United States Air Force, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as an F-100 Pilot and Chief of the Combat Operations Center, 3d Tactical Fighter Wing, Bien Hoa Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, in action against the enemy during more than 100 combat missions over Southeast Asia from 1965 to 1966. His devotion to duty and courage under all conditions serve as an inspiration to his fellow flyers. His actions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
